Birdtail Sioux First Nation proudly partners with Dakota Ojibway Child & Family Services (DOCFS), an agency dedicated to supporting the well-being and safety of children, youth, and families within our community and across the Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council region. Guided by cultural values and the principles of self-determination, DOCFS works to empower families, preserve cultural connections, and ensure that every child grows up in a safe, nurturing, and culturally rich environment.

Programs & Services Offered


  • Child Protection Services: Investigating concerns of abuse and neglect, and ensuring the safety of children.
  • Family Enhancement Programs: Support programs focused on parenting skills, healthy relationships, and family well-being.
  • Foster Care & Kinship Care Programs: Recruiting, training, and supporting foster and kinship caregivers to provide safe and culturally appropriate homes.
  • Adoption Services: Facilitating permanency for children when reunification with their birth family is not possible.
  • Youth Programs: Support services and initiatives tailored to the unique needs of youth and young adults.
  • Cultural Programs: Activities and resources aimed at connecting children and families with their Dakota and Ojibway traditions, language, and ceremonies.
