Birdtail Sioux Dakota Oyate (Dakota Nation) is a modern and progressive First Nation located approximately 50 km north of Virden, Manitoba. We are committed to fostering a healthy, strong, and vibrant community, delivering programs and services that promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being, and diligently work to preserve, revitalize, and transmit Dakota lifeways to future generations.
We are dedicated to preserving, revitalizing, and transmitting our rich Dakota language, traditions, and ceremonies for future generations, strengthening our identity and connection to our past.
Through a wide range of programs and services, we strive to foster the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health of all community members, from early childhood to our elders.
Our First Nation is situated on approximately 7,128 acres of land, a sacred connection to our ancestors and a vibrant natural environment that sustains our community and traditional practices.
